This charming vintage Japanese woodblock print shows a mischievous black and white cat with a bright red collar and bell, crouched low and eyeing a bowl of orange goldfish. Created by Ohara Koson (signing as Shōson) in 1931, this Ohara Koson cat print captures that perfect moment of feline curiosity with wonderful detail, from the wood grain floor to the little fishing net beside the bowl.
The soft neutral tones, pops of red and orange and gentle humor make it a timeless piece of Japanese cat art. This vintage cat and goldfish print suits Japandi, minimalist and eclectic spaces alike.
It makes a delightful birthday gift for a cat mom who knows that look all too well. It’s also a fun thank-you gift for a veterinarian or vet tech, or a sweet gift for someone who just adopted a curious new kitten.
